Frequently Asked Questions

WHY COME TO THE OFFICE OF DR. JEFFREY TUCKER AND PROGRESSIVE BODY MOVEMENT?

My program is not intended to be a substitute for a relationship with your personal doctor, with whom you probably address acute or routine health problems on an ongoing basis. Most people who come to me do so for a number of reasons: the comprehensive biomechanical physical examination I provide; my focus on pain relief and prevention; one-on-one time where I teach you simple things to improve your posture and train you in proper floor exercises to do at home on your own time.

WHAT WILL THE FIRST OFFICE VISIT BE LIKE?

The first office visit is usually one hour in length. During this first visit,

I will procure a full history and will give an appropriate and proper physical exam. I will also customize a personal plan for you, including a variety of suggestions for evolving each of  your health concerns.

Once we have determined that the pain is due to a mechanical cause – rather than something serious (e.g. tumor, infection) – then we address each individual’s personal concerns and then provide a step by step plan of action to help you achieve your goals.

An essential ingredient in getting better quickly is learning what “first-aid” exercises to perform. For a tender back entering rehabilitation the difference between the exercise dose that builds tissue is only slightly less than the dose that will cause further injury. Dr. Jeffrey Tucker is an expert at teaching the progression of things to help you heal. Most of these are simple maneuvers and or gentle exercises for the deep local “core” muscles which stabilize the spine or joints. We call these low load exercises.

Further office visits, are usually one-half hour in length. These are used to provide soft-tissues therapy, manipulation techniques, physical therapy modalities, exercise progressions, and nutritional advice.
